In an effort to get back into the swing of being creative, I've started a Lets Fly series following the career of a Navy pilot in Vietnam. 'Hornet' Horner flies A-1 Skyraiders from the USS Ticonderoga in 1965, striking targets along the Ho Chi Min Trail and doing his best to make it back to the boat every day, surviving the dangerous skies over Vietnam.Watch my tutorial video on downloading, installing, and modding the game if you need help:In these videos I am using the base Strike Fighters 2 game with the Vietnam and Europe addons.

The latest in the Strike Fighters series of flight sims was released yesterday by ThirdWire Productions. For those that don't know, this is the design studio of the guy who developed European Air War and Longbow 2.The series is is a light to medium bodied survey of classic jets of the 1960s and 1970s, and this new release is an update of the older Wings Over Vietnam title, bringing a number of updates and new planes.Fair warning, this is not a 'hardcore' flight simulator along the lines of Falcon, but on the other hand it is not an arcade game either.

However, it is one of the most moddable games you can buy and we have been at it since 2002, so there is a vast library of free stuff to download, most of it of excellent quality.Another very nice thing about this series is that TK supports his sims like a madman. He only recently stopped updating the original game, released six and half years ago. One last thing-I don't want to sound like Billy Mays.If you are interested in aerodynamics, this series may be of interest to you, as it has one of the most complete physics-based flight modeling systems out there.The out-of-the box flight models are designed to be pretty high fidelity but like the rest of the game are biased towards a shallow learning curve.
