Gors And Kallmann Piano Serial Numbers

I recently bought a 2nd hand piano of the above make. I liked the sound and thought it would be a great companion. Like most people, I would like to talk about this new companion with friends and compare notes.

However, I know nothing about it. Seller said that it's a German make but I found a Made in Japan sticker on it. Searched on the web and one site said that Taisei Co in Japan was a manufacturer. However, that company seems to have disappeared into thin air. On the Gors and Kallman website, it sounds supiciously like a China make. Sent them an email and got no reply. Then, there's the thing about its age.

Seller said it is about 15 y.o. Checked on the web and it came out around 1941 - 50. Piano tuner said that it can't be more than 15 - 20y.o. From the inside. It's serial no is 78085. Can anyone help me with any kind of info?

Btw, I cannot find the Larry Fine's book at the stores here for assistance.Piano & Music Gifts & Accessories (570)Re: Gors and Kallman10/09/06 01:24 PM 10/09/06 01:24 PMJoined: Mar 2006Posts: 147. Thank you very much, piano cellar, for the info. Hmmmm, as I suspected, the piano must be a recon. Wonder if I've overpaid for it - US$2200.

The inside looks too new to be anything close to 50yo. Come to think of it, the casement and everything about it doesn't look 50yo. Well, perhaps the only orig. Part is the soundboard or the orig. Owner really took excellent care of it.

I love it still. The other mystery is, how come there's no history or anything whatsoever of this manufacturer? Obviously lots of people must have owned these Gors and Kallman pianos cos I've seen lots of them on the grey market on the internet. What's the connection with Taisei (Japan) and the current Gors and Kallman dealer?

Are the current ones made in China under a German branding? What I'm most disappointed in is the fact that Gors and Kallman didn't bother to reply to my email. What's the point of having a contact on your site if there's no follow up? So many questions.
